HC Deb 10 February 1947 vol 433 cc17-8W
93. Mr. Touche

asked the Minister of Works when the numerous temporary defence works on private land in the Reigate and Dorking districts are likely to be removed; and if, in the meantime, there is any objection to occupiers of such land, who were inconvenienced by such obstructions, making their own arrangements for the removal of such obstacles at their own expense.

Mr. Tomlinson

The temporary defence works in the Reigate and Dorking district will where necessary be removed as soon as practicable, but, owing to the present serious shortage of labour and plant in that area, I can give the hon. Member. no indication when this will be. Until the general situation improves, it is not possible to authorise individual property owners to have the obstructions removed by private contract.
