HC Deb 05 February 1947 vol 432 c351W
70. Major Wise

asked the Minister of Food if he has any further statement to make regarding the East African Groundnut Scheme.

Dr. Summerskill

Yes, Sir. The Government have recently decided to proceed with the clearing and development of some 3¼ million acres of land on the general lines recommended by the official Mission which visited East Africa last year. The Mission's report, together with a statement of the decisions taken by the Government and the reasons for those decisions, are contained in Command Paper 7030 which is published today and is available in the Vote Office.
