§ 89. Mr. Ellis Smithasked the Secretary of State for War the changes that have been made in the men's conditions and welfare since the termination of hostilities in the North-Western Command; and if similar changes have been made in Staffordshire and throughout the country and for men serving abroad.
§ Mr. BellengerIn all Commands at home improvements in hutted camps, such as the provision of partitions, brick fireplaces and extra windows, are being made as fast as limitations of materials and labour allow. Overseas conditions vary, but generally semi-permanent hutted camps are being substituted for temporary accommodation. As already announced, some changes have been and others will be made affecting the soldier's way of life. Many of the improvements, however, that we have planned can only be introduced over a considerable period, primarily as a result of limitations of supplies and labour.
