HC Deb 04 February 1947 vol 432 c332W
Mr. Alpass

asked the Minister of Transport if, with a view to lessening road accidents and increasing safety, he will consider the desirability of requesting highway authorities to affix Cross Now notices at traffic-light crossings.

Mr. Barnes

Circular No. 544 (Roads) was sent to highway authorities on 21st February, 1840, asking that signal installations should be reviewed to see whether additional facilities for pedestrian traffic were practicable and warranted by traffic conditions. As circumstances permit, I hope that highway authorities will take action on the lines suggested in the Circular, a copy of which I am sending to my hon. Friend.
