HC Deb 03 February 1947 vol 432 c273W
3. Brigadier Low

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India how many British officers will be leaving the Indian Army between 1st January, 1947, and 30th April, 1947.

Mr. A. Henderson

Approximately 1,500 British Emergency Commissioned Officers of the Indian Army will probably be released during the period in question as a result of the acceleration in release which I announced in my reply on 27th January to the hon. and learned Gentleman the Member for Chester (Mr. Nield). In addition approximately 150 regular officers of the Indian Army are likely to retire during the same period.
