HC Deb 19 December 1947 vol 445 c467W
Mr. Gammans

asked the Minister of Pensions why temporary messengers in the Ministry of Pensions do not qualify for overtime after a 44-hour week whilst temporary clerks receive overtime payment for work beyond that period.

Mr. Buchanan

Temporary messengers are a general service class whose conditions of employment are regulated by agreement between the Treasury and the associations representing the men in question. They are eligible for the payment of overtime for hours worked in excess of 48 a week.
