HC Deb 15 December 1947 vol 445 cc286-7W
102. Mr. D. Jones

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that numbers of train men in the North-Eastern area, having been transferred to depots up to 20 miles from their homes, are experiencing difficulty in finding homes near the new stations, and consequently are having to travel to and fro each day, upwards of 20 miles; and what steps he proposes to take to ensure such men priority for housing at their new stations.

Mr. Barnes

Yes, but it is difficult to give railwaymen priority over others whose claims are equally strong.
