HC Deb 15 December 1947 vol 445 cc298-9W
Mr. Nutting

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware of the hardship caused by the dilatory methods employed by his Department in dealing with claims for coupons to replace clothing, linen, etc., lost in the Leicester laundry fire in September; and what steps he will take to expedite the issue of coupons.

Mr. Belcher

I assume that the hon. Member is referring to the fire which occurred at the Willow Welford Laundry. Claims are being deal with without delay on the part of my Department but considerable difficulty is being experienced in securing the necessary confirmation of loss from the laundry. I am not aware of any cases of special hardship but if the hon. Member has a particular case in mind perhaps he will let me have particulars.
