HC Deb 15 December 1947 vol 445 cc282-3W
111. Mrs. Mann

asked the Minister of Transport how many shipping companies have in the past diverted their route between America, Canada and Great Britain to call at the Clyde ports; and if he will take steps to induce them to do so in the future.

Mr. Barnes

Two regular cargo services are operated between North America and the Clyde and additional sailings are arranged as necessary. The transatlantic passenger ships which served the Clyde before the war are no longer available, but I understand that the shipping companies concerned are considering the possibility of reinstituting calls at Clyde ports.
