HC Deb 11 December 1947 vol 445 c221W
1 and 2. Mr. Edward Evans

asked the Minister of Health (1) how he proposes to recruit trained audiometrists to ensure the suitable allocation of the aural aids to be provided under the National Health Service Act; and whether he intends to utilise the personnel of reputable firms already providing hearing aids in this essential service;

(2) whether he has arranged for the purchase of a sufficient number of pure tone audiometers for testing purposes in the scheme for the suitable allocation of hearing aids under the National Health Service Act.

Mr. Bevan

I am arranging for the production of a new type of pure tone audiometer which can be used after a short and simple training. This will be given as may be necessary to the staff of hospitals providing the service.
