HC Deb 04 December 1947 vol 445 c94W
75. Mr. Parker

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that inadequate paper supplies have been made available for the Standard United Telephone Cables, Limited, Dagenham, and that exports have therefore been lost; and what action he is taking in the matter.

Mr. Belcher

Cable paper is in short supply and the position has been aggravated by a temporary interruption in the output of one of the mills. Arrangements have been made to overcome as far as possible the immediate difficulties of Standard United Telephone Cables, Limited, and I am investigating the extent to which additional supplies can be made available to them.
