HC Deb 04 August 1947 vol 441 c110W
24. Mr. D. J. Williams

asked the Minister of Works if he is aware that the Cwmdu Brickyard, Skewen, Glamorganshire, is still idle in spite of an assurance given last year that it would be reopened; what stage has been reached in the negotiations for re-opening it; and if he will now give a definite date when this undertaking will be in production.

Mr. Key

Continuous efforts have been made without success to obtain finance to re-open the brickyard. The owners have now agreed to submit to arbitration a claim for war damage and, if they receive a satisfactory award, they will reopen the brickyard. In the circumstances, no definite re-opening date can be given.
