HC Deb 21 April 1947 vol 436 c64W
Sir W. Smiles

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India what was the quantity of tea produced in India during the year 1946; and how did this compare with the largest crop produced in any year previously.

Mr. A. Henderson

I have no official information as to the out-turn of the Indian tea crop in 1946, but according to an unofficial report it amounted to about 562 million lbs. The highest recorded out-turn was 570.9 million lbs. in 1942.
