HC Deb 21 April 1947 vol 436 c66W
79. Mr. Rogers

asked the Minister of Food if it is estimated that the loss of sugar resulting from the floods in the sugar-beet areas will cause a reduction in the sugar and sweet rations later in the year.

Dr. Edith Summerskill

The loss of sugar stocks from flood action has been very small. It is too early to say to what extent the floods may affect the sugar-beet crop in the autumn.
