HC Deb 21 April 1947 vol 436 c58W
62. Sir W. Smithers

asked the Minister of Works the pension or retirement position of the cleaners, electricians and fitters employed by his Department at the House of Commons with long records of service up to 40 years.

Mr. Key

Cleaners, electricians and fitters employed by my Department at the Houses of Parliament belong to industrial grades and are not eligible for pensions under the Superannuation Acts. In common with all other unestablished civil servants, they are eligible on retirement for a gratuity of one week's pay for every year of service, provided they have served for 15 years in Government employment.
