HC Deb 17 April 1947 vol 436 c41W
Sir E. Graham-Little

asked the Minister of Education if he will inquire into a case, details of which have been submitted to him, of a school teacher with eight years' teaching experience, engaged by the Brentwood County High School in April, 1946, who took up her duties in the following September but has received neither remuneration nor travelling expenses and whose headmistress can obtain no reply from his Department; and if he will rectify this position.

Mr. Tomlinson

Last December the Authority inquired about the salary of the teacher referred to, who had been appointed for part-time teaching service in this school in September, 1946. No reference to travelling expenses was made. The salaries of part.-time teachers are not prescribed by the Burnham Reports and are for determination in the first instance by local education authorities. The Authority concerned with this particular case were so informed.
