HC Deb 17 April 1947 vol 436 c40W
75. Mr. G. Williams

asked the Minister of Education what steps he is taking to increase the allocation of paper to schools.

Mr. Tomlinson

Paper supplies for schools in common with other users will benefit from the recent increase in the basic allocation of coal for the industry. In addition, while the fuel restrictions continue, the paper mills have been asked to give priority to certain essential requirements, including school supplies. When the allocations for the next licensing period are being decided, I intend. to ask for a bigger allocation for schools, largely because of the raising of the age.
