64. Mr. Vaneasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster how many persons, and of what nationality and rank, are employed in interviewing civilians detained in the civil internee camps in the British zone in Austria.
§ Mr. J. HyndFive British Army officers—two majors and three captains—one Dutch, two Polish and three Yugoslav Army officers are employed in interviewing persons accused of War Crimes who are detained in civil internment camps. Five Austrian judges and five Austrian officials are also employed in interviewing internees.
65. Mr. Vaneasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster when the 4,000 civil internees, now detained in the British zone of Austria as members of the organisations declared criminal at Nuremberg, can expect to be told the length of their sentences.
§ Mr. J. HyndThe method of bringing these persons to trial is now under consideration. Until this has been defined I regret I am unable to estimate the time that will be taken to announce the final judgments.
