asked the Minister of Food to what extent the decision to issue an open licence for the import of green vegetables until 15th June, contravenes agreements made with the National Farmers' Union.

Discussions with the National Farmers' Union on these matters are normally undertaken by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture. The decision to extend the open general licence for green vegetables because of the present acute shortage was taken after consultation with him and with his full agreement.
