HC Deb 02 April 1947 vol 435 cc308-9W
54. Mr. Osborne

asked the Minister of Food why his regulations do not permit birthday cakes made from ingredients saved from family rations to be sent to sons or daughters in the Dominions, when it is permitted to send foodstuffs to ex-enemy countries.

Dr. Edith Summerskill

The regulations do permit birthday or other cakes, whether made at home or bought in shops, to be sent to relatives or friends in the Dominions.
