§ 17. Mrs. Ayrton Gouldasked the Assistant Postmaster-General whether, in view of the fact that express letters are checked by the Post Office and sent out for individual delivery and that the fee for such delivery is 6d., whereas in the case of registered letters it is only 3d., he will arrange for expressed letters to be signed for by the recipient in the same way as registered letters.
§ Mr. BurkeThe 6d. express fee is in respect of special delivery whereas registered items are delivered in ordinary course with other correspondence. The sender of an express packet can arrange for signature by the recipient, if he pays a registration fee in addition to the express fee.
