§ 23. Mr. Garry Allighanasked the Assistant Postmaster-General when he communicated with the Nigerian postal authorities with regard to the delays in 122W mail between a British officer attached to the 11th Battalion, Nigerian Regiment, and his parents in Gravesend, about which his Department was notified on 12th August; whether he has yet received any reply from the Nigerian postal authorities; and what are the reasons for such delays.
§ Mr. BurkeA letter in this case was sent to Nigeria by air mail on 31st August and, as my hon. Friend is already aware, a reminder was sent on 16th October The Nigerian postal authorities now inform me that their investigations have been held up by the failure of this officer to reply to inquiries made of him, and that apart from the possibility of some delay due to the necessity for redirecting correspondence to a fresh address, they cannot account for the difficulties experienced.
