HC Deb 30 October 1946 vol 428 c90W
Major Bruce

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty whether he will make an announcement concerning the retention or abolition in certain naval establishments of mixed messes for chief petty-officers and petty-officers.

Mr. Dugdale

The normal arrangement in shore establishments is for chief petty officers and petty officers to have separate messes but there are some exceptions arising from special circumstances. It is not the intention to modify the general rule at present, although it cannot be applied universally.
