HC Deb 30 October 1946 vol 428 c120W
Mr. Prescott

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation on what grounds the decision was taken to terminate, as at the end of the present year, the flying-boat service between the United Kingdom and Durban.

Mr. Lindgren

I refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave today to my hon. Friend the Member for Burslem (Mr. Edward Davies).

Sir R. Glyn

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation what are the grounds for closing the B.O.A.C. base at Durban, or reducing its present status; whether the opinion of the Union Government of South Africa has been obtained; and whether this whole question will be reconsidered in view of the expressed opinions of Natal residents who made a notable contribution to the war effort.

Mr. Lindgren

As to the first and second parts of the Question, I refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave today to my hon. Friend the Member for Burslem (Mr. Edward Davies). As regards the last part of the Question, this is a matter solely for the Union Government.
