§ 74. Mr. Hurdasked the Minister of Food how much fresh meat is being imported from Denmark and other continental countries; and what measures are being taken to prevent the introduction of foot-and-mouth disease.
§ Mr. StracheyWe expect to get 10,000 tons of carcase meat from Denmark within the next few months and additional quantities are in prospect for subsequent delivery. No imports from other continental countries are contemplated. We are in consultation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and with the veterinary authorities in Denmark over the necessary precautions. The hon. Member may rest assured that they will not be neglected.
