HC Deb 29 October 1946 vol 428 c88W
Mr. Wilkes

asked the Minister of Food the grounds for the refusal of a licence to Mr. A. F. Clarke to allow him to operate a mobile canteen outside the Hexham Urban District Council area in order to cater at agricultural and ploughing shows, the committees of nine of which shows had offered facilities for the attendance of his canteen; and whether, in view of the lack of alternative catering arrangements at such agricultural shows, he will reconsider this decision.

Mr. Strachey

Mr. Clark's application for a licence to cater at agricultural shows was refused because it was not considered that the refusal would result in any high degree of public hardship. I have recently relaxed the restrictions on the issue of catering licences, and am arranging for Mr. Clark's application to be reconsidered in the light of the new policy.
