HC Deb 28 October 1946 vol 428 c45W
Mr. Thornton-Kemsley

asked the Minister of Agriculture why farmers employing prisoners of war now have to fill in and forward to the A.E.C. a form in respect of each prisoner once a week instead of once a month, involving waste of time and paper; and why a similar form has also to be sent weekly to the camp commandant.

Mr. T. Williams

The instructions issued by my Department have always required that farmers employing billeted prisoners of war should furnish weekly time sheets. Similar information is also required by the military authorities in order to determine the amount of each prisoner's working pay and his output bonus. The W.A.E.C. time sheets are usually made available to the military authorities, and I am looking into those cases where that is not the practice.
