HC Deb 24 October 1946 vol 428 cc23-4W
Mr. W. J. Brown

asked the President of the Board of Trade how many officials of his Department retain a financial or administrative interest in a commercial or industrial concern with which they were associated before entering the Civil Service; what positions any such persons are now holding in his Department; and what salaries or allowances are paid in respect of their services.

Sir S. Cripps

The information asked for is not available. In any case in which an administrative interest is retained, I am satisfied that adequate arrangements are made for ensuring that no conflict arises between the public duty and the private interest of the person concerned.

Mr. W. J. Brown

I regret that precise numbers are not available. I can, however, assure the hon. Member that the arrangements for ensuring that no conflict arises between the public duties and private interests of employees of the Ministry of Supply are adequate.
