HC Deb 21 October 1946 vol 427 cc282-3W
61. Mr. J. Morrison

asked the Minister of Agriculture what stocks of tyres are carried by A.E.C.s; the estimated time" these stocks will last; and if, in counties where shortages exists, he will release some of these stocks for use by the general farmer.

Mr. T. Williams

Stocks of tyres carried by county war agricultural executive Committees at present average nearly one tyre for each rubber-tyred tractor, implement or vehicle held by them, or roughly a three months' supply. These stocks, which include various sizes, are not unduly large; but in case it may help to relieve the general situation, I am instructing committees to review them so as to see whether any releases can be made without detriment to their own operations.
