HC Deb 21 October 1946 vol 427 c277W
16. Mr. Pritt

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will abolish the practice of maintaining secrecy as to the movements and destinations of Merchant Navy vessels carrying troops, as the continuance of this practice causes indignation and distress to the crews of these ships and to their families.

Mr. Barnes

I think the hon. Member is under a misapprehension as there is now no general ban on the disclosure of the movements and destinations of merchant ships carrying troops. If the hon. Member can give me details of specific cases where it is alleged that this information has been withheld I will have investigations made.
