§ Major Wiseasked the Minister of Agriculture whether, in view of the need for a fresh examination of the Agricultural Marketing Acts in relation to changes in conditions and policy since these Acts were placed on the Statute Book, he will set up a committee or commission for this purpose.
§ Mr. T. WilliamsYes, Sir. The Secretary of State for Scotland and I have decided to set up a small committee of independent persons to review the working of the Agricultural Marketing Acts; to consider what modifications of the provisions of those Acts for the organisation of producers are desirable in the light of experience before 1939 and of developments during the war and subsequently in Government policy as it affects food and agriculture; and to make recommendations. I hope to be able to announce the composition of the committee at an early date.
