§ 139. Mr. J. Fosterasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will ensure that sufficient supplies of timber are made available in respect of the licences for timber granted to Messrs. Pochins (Manchester) Limited, at Middlewich, Cheshire, so that this firm's contracts for the timber work in a great number of permanent and temporary houses and for the manufacture of permanent prefabricated houses, all of which contracts are for local authorities and none for private building, may be fulfilled and the dismissal of a large proportion of their employees be avoided.
§ Mr. BelcherI understand that the Timber Control area officer has already suggested certain possible sources of supply to Messrs. Pochins, and he will do his best to assist further if they will communicate with him. I fear, however, that, in the present shortage of timber, it is inevitable that some licence holders should experience difficulty and delay in procuring timber in the specification and quality they require.
