Mr. Amoryasked the Minister of Food if he will make a statement on the substantial wastage of the tomato crop in the Channel Islands resulting from contradictory arrangements made by his Department; and whether he is taking steps to avoid a recurrence.
§ Mr. StracheyI am not aware that there has been any substantial wastage of the256W marketable tomato crop in the Channel Islands this year and I have no knowledge of any contradictory arrangements made by my Department. The arrangements for distribution were fully approved and agreed upon by the States authorities.
