HC Deb 06 November 1946 vol 428 c254W
85. Sir J. Mellor

asked the Minister of Food why he refused applications in September to change back to shell egg registrations before the cut in the poultry ration on 1st October; why applications had to be repeated in October; and why changes did not take effect until 1st November.

Mr. Strachey

Individual domestic poultry keepers may change to shell egg registrations at any time. If the hon. Member will give me particulars of cases he seems to have in mind I will have inquiries made. Domestic poultry keepers linked with other householders in participating schemes cannot, owing to administrative difficulties, be given the same freedom of change. They are, however, allowed at the beginning of the rationing year to make alternative arrangements and once during the year an opportunity is given for a change to be made.
