HC Deb 06 November 1946 vol 428 c245W
Mr. Callaghan

asked the Secretary of State for Air how many ex-R.A.F. fitters employed at Air Ministry maintenance units are about to be discharged as redundant; and how their order of discharge compares with wartime trained dilutees.

Mr. de Freitas

I am afraid that the information requested in the first part of my hon. Friend's Question is not centrally available. When the volume of engineering work at a maintenance unit is contracting, ex-R.A.F. fitters who are employed as fully skilled men would normally be discharged after dilutees. Those who are not regarded as fully skilled are classified as dilutees, for whom the order of discharge is on the basis of "first in, last out."
