HC Deb 05 November 1946 vol 428 c234W
Mr. J. J. Robertson

asked the Minister of Supply the average monthly rate of production of marine diesel engines of from 40 to 120 h.p. now being manufactured in this country; and what percentage of these engines is being exported.

Mr. Wilmot

I regret that the information asked for in the first part of the Question is not available, as the statistics collected from manufacturers do not distinguish these engines by horse-power. About 50 per cent. of all diesel engines are exported, but the proportion of slow-moving engines is, under arrangements with the firms concerned, considerably less and in no case is it more than one-third.
