§ Mr. Jannerasked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he will consider issuing a White Paper setting out what were the principal lessons learned at the recent Scientific Conference on Fuel Economy organised by his Department, together with an indication of what action is to be taken in each case to implement such of the lessons as have been approved by him.
§ Mr. ShinwellI have already arranged for the proceedings of the Conference to be published. I need hardly say that all the papers and recommendations are being exhaustively studied by the Fuel Efficiency Committee as well as by my Department and will, in due course, be published, or publicised, in the manner best designed to secure practical results. The action to be taken on the recommendations must necessarily be continuing action, much of it over a long period, and it would be impracticable, at any rate until there has been much more time for detailed examination of the proceedings, to indicate exactly what action is being, or will be, taken over so wide a field. I will, however, bear my hon. Friend's suggestion in mind.
