HC Deb 04 November 1946 vol 428 c167W
44. Wing-Commander Robinson

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that Messrs. McCall Hatfield Limited, of St. Annes-on-the-Sea, are now having to discharge employees owing to the continued refusal of his Department and the Paper Control to give the firm an allocation of bulk paper for waxing; and whether he will in future grant small bulk allocations to enable this firm to continue to find employment for workers in Lytham St. Annes.

Mr. Marquand

Bulk allocations to waxers are granted only in proportion to their prewar consumption of paper. While we cannot allow newcomers to have bulk quotas, we are prepared to allow them paper for specific uses as far as the supply position permits.
