HC Deb 04 November 1946 vol 428 c167W
Sir W. Smithers

asked the President of the Board of Trade how much cotton was held by the Control Commission at the latest available date; and the average price delivered to the United Kingdom ports expressed in American cents per lb.

Sir S. Cripps

I assume that when the hon. Member speaks of the Control Commission, he is referring to the Cotton Control. At 30th September, 1946, the Control held, or had contracted for, 469,000 tons of cotton; the average cost delivered to the United Kingdom is 23.26 American cents.
