§ 78. Mr. Tiffanyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will ensure that no action will be taken by officials of His Majesty's Government to undermine the position of the members of the Greek T.U.C., G.C.L., who are recognised by the British T.U.C. and W.F.T.U.
§ Mr. MayhewThe legal position of the former Executive, of the Greek Confederation of Labour and of the Workers Centres was determined by a judicial decision of the Greek Council of State. The House will be aware that His Majesty's Government. at the invitation of the Greek Government, recently made certain suggestions as to how the difficulties caused by this decision might best be solved. I am glad to say that these suggestions have been accepted by the172W Greek Government as a basis of settlement. The attitude of the Greek workers' representatives is not yet clear, and, as the discussions are still proceeding, I would prefer to make no further statement at present.
