HC Deb 04 November 1946 vol 428 c171W
77. Wing-Commander Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether his financial experts have now opened discussions with the French on the tourist question; and whether he will now make a statement about the amount of money allowed to French tourists visiting this country.

Mr. Mayhew

Yes, Sir. Discussions were opened last week by an Anglo-French Committee of officials, and are being continued. With regard to the last part of the Question, I understand that French tourists are at present allowed to bring in £5 or the equivalent on each visit. More favourable arrangements are made for businessmen and students.
