asked the Minister of Transport what representations he has received from the Road Haulage Association to impose statutory rates for the carriage of goods; and what answer he has made.

My hon. Friend may be referring to the memorandum issued in July last by the main line railways and the Road Haulage Association, which contemplated a road rates schedule to be settled by a road-rail tribunal. The memorandum in which this proposal was included dealt with the general question of coordination of road and rail freight transport, for which the Government has other plans.
