HC Deb 01 November 1946 vol 428 cc163-4W
Mr. Pritt

asked the Secretary of State for Air why it has been decided to terminate the Educational and Vocational Training Scheme; and whether, in the light of the value of this scheme and the insufficiency of the ordinary General Education Scheme to meet the postwar needs of many men in the R.A.F., he will reconsider the decision.

Mr. de Freitas

The E.V.T. Scheme was designed for the special situation that arose at the end of hostilities, and I am afraid we have not the manpower to continue it after this year. While the General Education Scheme cannot be an exact substitute for it, it is our aim that it should meet the same needs as far as possible.
