§ 107. Mr. P. Thorneycroftasked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he will publish a White Paper setting out the facts of the present petrol situation, including the rate of consumption and the reasons for a continuation of petrol rationing.
§ Mr. ShinwellAs regards the rate of consumption I would refer the hon. Member to my reply today to his earlier Question. I have given on several occasions, the reasons for a continuation of petrol rationing. Briefly, the answer is that we cannot at present justify the additional dollar expenditure which would be involved, and I do not consider that it is necessary to publish a White Paper on the point.
