HC Deb 21 May 1946 vol 423 c54W
Captain Bullock

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power how the arrangements for supplying petrol to French tourists visiting this country compare with those available for British tourists visiting France; and whether, since it is impossible for a French tourist to use his motor car effectively in this country on a basic ration, he will make arrangements to provide some supplementary ration for tourist visits, as well as business visits, as is done for British tourists in France.

Mr. Shinwell

I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the answer I gave to a similar question by him on 14th May. I regret that under present conditions I do not feel able to agree to the grant of supplementary allowances to tourists except for business purposes.
