HC Deb 15 May 1946 vol 422 c248W
123. Mr. Ward

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air why aircraft of Flying Training Command have been excluded from the types which are to fly past the saluting bases as part of the Victory Parade on 8th June; and whether he will take steps to correct this omission.

Mr. Strachey:

We should have been glad to have had aircraft of all commands taking part in the Victory Parade. But practical problems, such as rendezvous, timing, and control, set a limit to the size of this combined operation with the Fleet Air Arm, and we felt it would be right to choose the best known war types. This is in no sense a reflection on the achievements of Flying Training Command, which, with all the other commands, will of course be represented in the marching column.
