HC Deb 15 May 1946 vol 422 cc240-1W
108. Sir T. Moore

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty how many small craft suitable for fishing vessels have been disposed of since V J-Day; and whether priority of disposal has been given to ex-Servicemen.

Mr. Dugdale:

Since VJ-Day the Admiralty has sold about 150 trawlers, drifters and motor fishing vessels. Apart from these, the Department has sold some 2,000 small craft, comprising both pulling and power boats, a small number of which would probably be suitable for inshore fishing. The Admiralty normally sell surplus craft by competitive tender. In accordance with the general policy in respect of disposal of surplus Government stores no priority is given, in such sales, to ex-Servicemen.
