HC Deb 15 May 1946 vol 422 c249W
127. Mr. Janner

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air how many cottages are standing empty on the aerodrome at Cottesmore, near Oakham; how long they have been unoccupied; and whether he will take steps to see that there is no wastage of housing accommodation on the aerodrome.

Mr. Strachey:

I think my hon. Friend's Question refers to the married quarters at Cottesmore, and we shall certainly make full use of these buildings. They have all needed repair after their wartime use. Fifty-three of them are unoccupied only because the work has not yet been finished. Seven have been ready for a fortnight, and airmen's families will be moving in as soon as possible. Eight are already in use.
