§ 95. Mr. Sorensenasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will make a statement respecting the activities of the United Fruit Company in the Cameroons, with special reference to the profit it derives, the wages of its employees, and the prices paid for produce purchased.

§ Mr. George Hall:The United Fruit Company do not operate in the Cameroons. Elders and Fyffes, a British subsidiary of United Fruit, took over the shipping of bananas from the ex-German plantations under agreement with the Custodian of Enemy Property in 1939, but only one shipment has taken place since 1940, namely in March of this year. The ex-German plantations in the Cameroons are at present administered by the Custodian of Enemy Property.
