HC Deb 14 May 1946 vol 422 c192W
135. Mr. Willis

asked the Minister of Labour what provision has been made in Scotland for the provision of training centres for building trade workers; what progress has been made in their completion; and whether any special measures have been adopted to increase the number of trainees.

Mr. Ness Edwards:

Centres at Spring-burn and Muircockhall are now training men for the building industry and a new centre at Hillington will come into use in a few weeks. Five other centres at Dundee, Edinburgh, Milngavie, Barrhead and Mossend, are planned. The possibility of increasing the number of trainees by shift working in the centres and employment of trainees on production work is at present under consideration.
